It has always amazed me how children know their people! Even when my children as babies had not seen their aunt, or great-aunt, or grandmother they never hesitated to go straight into these open arms.  As an aunt who does not see her niece and nephew often enough, when we are together it's as if we had never been apart.  This is Family.  This is Love.

The heart bracelet above was made for my sister as a Christmas present years ago.  It still remains one of her favorites and I have since made mother and daughter sets.  This bracelet will be available this Holiday gift giving season.

The Ship Has Landed!

The journey out to sea has been exciting, challenging, and filled with playing hard and working hard! It is now time to finally be anchored in my studio and create adornments for all of the beautiful women that enlighten  and support me daily.  Many of you have lonely Hillsborough Hoops that need a mate or have waited patiently for me to make the new girl in town a pair of earrings.  I truly appreciate your understanding in letting my ship set sail for awhile.

Mackenzie and I are hosting our second Children's Market this Saturday, February 13 from 10-12 in our back yard! The market in December was a great success, we had hot chocolate, cupcakes, duct tape wallets, sculptey rings, homemade chocolates, surprise soap, and beautiful ornaments all handmade, sold, and bartered by the kids! This Blog is a Work In Progress just like my life! I am trying to get Paypal buttons to work. They do work, I had my first Paypal transaction! Can I get a "Hell Yeah!" Now the problem: I have more product and I am copying and pasting the HTML from paypal, and the same button, with the previous info keeps popping up on the blog. How do I get the new button with more awesome product to show up? I NEED HELP! I want this to work! I don't want to get a real job! I really love making things and selling them and people wearing them and why oh why!

MLK Day is coming to an end. I hope everyone had a peaceful day participating in a service project or at home with the kids. I had a great day with friends at the river picking up some trash. I say some because there was not much around!

Nicky and I went down to the Eno River today, just around the corner from our house. Parts of the river were still frozen, plenty of deer tracks, what I think to be coyote droppings, and beaver sticks galore. On the land stands this old tobacco barn.

As for jewelry, today's featured pieces are the circle choker. Dress it up or dress it down. Can be worn as a 16" choker or adjustable to 20".

I'M Back!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes! Welcome 2010, and a new decade for The Gypsy Mermaid to start rocking out on new designs and medium! I have been incorporating wool felt into my pieces and I am excited to preview some here.

I will be expanding my wholesale business this year and want to have more Girls Night Out jewelry parties. So if you know of any great shops or want to host a party, let me know!

Asymmetrical Neck piece $105-$150

One of the first pieces I created in my studio, I had been sketching, doodling, rearranging circles on paper for quite sometime trying to design a killer neck piece. I am pleased with the finished product and one of my dear friends back in MD purchased it back in the spring. If I ever get my camera back from the shop I will add pics of some smaller necklaces I have been working on.

Again, for the locals I am back at the Hillsborough Farmers Market and Last Fridays and coming this Fall I am hopeful that Hillsborough will be the home of its first monthly, indoor artist market. Recycle, Reuse, Shop Locally and Celebrate our Independence! I have always loved the 4th of July, my party girl instincts have been around since I was just a girl! My family would head down to the polo fields for the fireworks display, after a day of swimming in our backyard pool. I was always so excited to see school friends that I had not seen for a month, especially Ben Allnutt, my first love! I always had a carefully planned outfit to show off my tan! How funny, these days I have a perfectly planned outfit to cover up my cellulite!

The kids and I are going to felt today. The local coffee shop, Cup A Joe, and its awesome, rockin' owners Brooke and Ryan want some java jackets!
